AI can speed up the four-day work week

As artificial intelligence (AI) is applied to labor sites, companies that reduce the number of working days for employees are emerging.

Working just four days a week and getting paid five days is a dream for many office workers. However, with the dramatic changes in the working environment during the pandemic, things that were difficult to even imagine in the past are becoming someone's reality.

There are cases of a four-day work week from all over the world. In particular, after confirming the results of positive pilot operations in various countries such as the UK, Iceland, and Portugal, many companies introduced them.

Germany, which has just started piloting 45 companies, is paying attention to a new factor. AI is being introduced to the labor market at a rapid pace. Some experts say that AI will accelerate the spread of the four-day work week.

This is also supported by data collected by Tech.Co (tech.co ), a British news and event information company, at the end of 2023. The company surveyed more than 1,000 business leaders in the U.S. to forecast the "2024 working environment that will change with technology." According to the survey, 29% of organizations implementing the four-day work week were widely using AI to operate the company.

It was simplifying its operation with Generative AI programs such as ChatGPT. On the other hand, only 8% of companies working five days a week used AI at this level. In addition, 93% of companies using AI were open to the four-day work week, while less than half of those that did not were open to the four-day work week.
