Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms (NAS: META), criticized those who pursue "one true AI" like God, arguing that future AI will have a variety of AIs, just like using multiple apps.

According to Business Insider on the 28th, Zuckerberg recently discussed Meta's AI in an interview with YouTuber Kane Sutter, saying, "There will be a variety of AI that many people can make."

While other tech giants focus on their flagship AI models, such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini, Zuckerberg said Meta is aiming to integrate multiple AIs.

"Our overall view is that AI is not just one type," he said. "People want to interact with various people and businesses, and various AIs should be created to reflect various interests."

He supported the open-source AI model but said technology should not be monopolized through companies trying to control it or build a single product.

"When I see people in the technology industry talking about building one true AI, I feel very opposed," he said. "They seem to think as if they are trying to create God."

Zuckerberg also mentioned artificial general intelligence (AGI). Zuckerberg showed his reluctance to AI workers who deify AGI.

In September last year, an anonymous AI worker attended the Vanity Fair and said, "We are creating God," and "We are building a conscious machine."

Arthur Mensch, CEO of Mistral, an AI company, also expressed concerns about Silicon Valley's interest in religious AGI last year. "All the rhetoric about AGI is about creating God," he said. "I am a strong atheist, and that's why I don't believe in AGI."

Antropics co-founder Jack Clark also said: "A lot of the stifling enthusiasm for AGI stems from the false religious impulses of people who grew up in secular culture."

Zuckerberg's Meta is also very active in AI competition and is trying to build an increasingly powerful AI system, but he said he hopes Meta will create a diverse set of tools to build its own AI system.

"Some people are saying there will be one real big AI that can do everything," he said, stressing, "I don't think that's how things go."
