The "2024 World Artificial Intelligence Congress (WAIC), China's largest annual artificial intelligence (AI) exhibition, opened in Shanghai on the 4th and began its four-day schedule, China's state-run English newspaper Global Times reported.
According to reports, more than 500 companies participated in this year's sixth event, the highest ever.
The number of new products to be introduced through this exhibition is also the largest ever.
According to the Shanghai X (X, formerly Twitter) account, China's first human-sized universal humanoid robot "Tiangong" will be unveiled for the first time.
The video provided by Shanghai City to X shows Tiangong picking up bread and putting it in a basket.
The English-language Shanghai Daily also posted a video of robots performing the Chinese classic dance on X.
Prime Minister Li Chang, who attended the event amid heated competition between the U.S. and China over AI, emphasized in a speech, "Countries should have a more open mindset and promote international cooperation on AI," AFP reported.
Prime Minister Li urged countries to move cross-border data, trade free equipment, and connect infrastructure.
In this regard, the U.S. revoked export licenses for some companies that export semiconductors to Huawei after China's Huawei announced in April that it would install Intel's new Core Ultra 9 processor on its first AI laptop "Matebook X Pro."
Tesla CEO Elon Musk will also deliver a keynote speech, according to Reuters.
